Who would have thought years ago that one day we would have smart phones as well as artificial intelligence systems. We thought robots would be in our homes doing the work and maybe there will come a day for that as well.

Smart Locks

During the month of May 2013 August Inc released the first smart lock. A metal frame using a Bluetooth 4.0 on a smart phone application. It had security issues. In August 2016 a white hacker showed the security issues the smart lock had and the issues were then fixed.

As a person looking for your house key or any key can be incredibly frustrating. Investing in a smart lock eliminates this process. You can allow a person access to your home from anywhere in the world via the Bluetooth /wif-fi/z-wave or zigbee whilst knowing whom the person who is entering is the correct person via the camera. Get an alert at work to ensure your domestic arrived at work on time as well your offspring has been dropped off safely at home.

It is an extremely convenient device to have at your home. When choosing a smart lock look at the battery life span as well as the different types of types of connections eg. Wi-fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee and Z-wave. Wi-fi uses a lot of battery life. Bluetooth uses less battery life. Z-wave and Zigbee can operate on low battery life. If you have a smart doorbell that uses a specific wireless protocol streamline your smart lock and choose the exact same wireless protocol. Look at the convenience at how you open the door. When carrying a child or groceries having the phone in your pocket and allowing the signals to meet the door can open. If there is a blackout the smart lock can use a key to open the door. Does it allow your guests access to the portal to open the door.

Smart locks are becoming increasingly popular. During 2020 8,9 million units and the growth of this device is expected to grow 21,4% from 2021-2028 compounded annually. The residential development segment consisted of 65% of these units that were sold during 2020.

Security Cameras

These are already being used so I am not going to say much about this except to say these are a must in every home and should be used in conjunction with an app that allows you to view if a break in has occurred and to view the intruders face. The app should also in future be able to inform the nearest police station by using location allowances.

Artificial Intelligence

The internet of home is becoming increasing popular. We can be at work and use google home and place our dishwasher on or turn the oven on. Alexa and google homes are the two most popular of Artificial Intelligence products. For you to decide between the two products you need to take into account the following: Smart displays systems, video service selection, in app smart control systems, speakers, shopping list, smart home routines, real time language translation, how importance of multi-tasking, location triggers eg. Alexa home will trigger your shopping list when you pass a grocery store, dynamic voice tone eg. whether you want the AI to respond to your mood. Once you have taken these into account you can then decide between the two systems being Alexa and Google home.

By the year 2025 they are expecting a 93% population installation of these devices.

Smart Home Water Monitor and Shut off System

This a system that monitors your daily usage of water and tells you when your usage has increased due to a leak in your home. You receive an alert and from your office or wherever you are you can close off the water supply. This allows you to fix the leak before you waste anymore water and your bill becomes too high.

The downside to this is if there are 3 bathrooms you will not know which bathroom the leak is coming from as well as once the water system is shut off a person at the home needs to be informed as they will not have this knowledge. This system does not recognize voice assist. This is not used by many people.

In conclusion these are 3 key items that Legendary investment Holdings would like to use in future developments.
